A bit late, mind.

It’s been pretty mild so far, some snow (we had a White Christmas) but not really cold and we actually had rain (rain!!!!) on New Year’s Eve. We got more snow starting on Saturday, but it got really cold last night and was still -21C / 5.8F at 10 am today. We’re getting a bit of a break tomorrow (high about +2C / 35.6F) but then temps are going to fall drastically for about a week or so.  Friday looks to be the coldest at -27C / -16.6F for a high with an overnight low at -34 C / -29.2F. The good new is we should be able to stay home through the worst of it. I always worry the car just won’t be able to handle those really cold temps. Poor thing is very, very old.

Question of The Day:

January 8 - It's World Typing Day - can you touch type using all your fingers? If not, do you wish you could?

Yes, I can. Typing was a mandatory class in my first year in high school. I actually learned to type on a manual typewriter, because that school was weird about the electric ones they had. You had to work up to being allowed to use the electric ones. Massive PITA, as I didn’t have the hand size or strength to get up to any sort of decent speed on a manual. I never did “earn” the privilege of being able to use the electric machines. I took another run at the whole thing a couple of years later (when I moved to a different school) and was eventually able to get up to a decent speed.

The excitement of spring weather in Alberta, oh yes.  Yesterday felt like mid-summer not spring, high of 27 C with a fair bit of sun.  Today, not so much, it's more like late fall.  We're at 9 C now and we've already had heavy rain and wind gusts up to 20 km/h.  And it's going down hill from there, winds increasing to 68km/h and up to 10 mm of rain.

All of this means it's a good idea to stay inside and read!  I'm thinking of a re-read on the fics currently posted on Rough Trade.  Need to do that before they're cleared off.  I'm a relative newcomer to the site and I'm enjoying it so much.  However, it's been responsible for several rabbit holes I've fallen down ;D (okay, more accurately the writers have been, but still) and I'm afraid I'm ignoring stuff I should be doing. Ah well, the housework will still be there when I work my way back out of these holes, right?

I've been avoiding the Harry Potter fandom completely, but when I realized that Jilly James's contribution to The Mulligan was a Harry Potter fic, I decided to give it a go. There's nothing she's written I don't like, so I figured why not. And I wasn't disappointed, "Slytherin Black" is fantastic!  Once I finished that, I moved on to Keira Marco's "Darkly Loyal" (another author I trust~and I'm loving this work, it's amazingly cathartic :D). After that it was on to the other HP offerings on Rough Trade as well as those on Jilly, Keira and Ladyholder's (also a writer who's works always please) personal sites. And I have to say thank you to these great writers for hours of entertainment.

The boys are feeling left out, so I leave you with a picture of Mustang

Brown and white tabby cat looking dorky.
