Except not. We studiously avoid manic here.

I did get serious about working on stuff again and the tee shirts are finally finished. I had gotten so frustrated I had to take several days away from the machines to keep my stress levels down. I even had time to do a bit on Thing Two’s PJ’s. I should be able to finish them next time I’m in the studio. Which might not be until Wednesday, just depends.

In other news, I started on my next test knit today.  I'm loving the look of this!  I'm holding two different yarns together and they're working so well together.  I can't wait to see how it looks as a finished garment, I think it's going to be lovely.

Question of The Day:
February 5 - World Nutella Day - yay or nay on the chocolatey nutty spread (and what do you spread it on, or do you spoon it from the jar?)

A very definite yay. It’s pretty darn expensive here, so we rarely buy it. Sometimes the store brand is on sale and we’ll go for that. There is a difference though. I like it on toast (no to the spoon in the jar see: expensive) and for a very special treat, in a crepe.

Hope yours was at least tolerable.

With one thing and another I’ve been getting less studio time than I’d like the last few days. I did get the first sewing project cut out before the weekend, but realized I needed to clear off some of the mess that had accumulated over the holidays before I could actually get to my machines. Good news out of that is I have 4, yes 4 finished objects. All are older knitting projects (one was probably close to two decades old~eep!) so that feels good. Today I will finish putting stuff away and do a quick pass with the vacuum before settling down to work. Considering the weather, Thing Two will probably appreciate another pair of flannel pj’s.

So, yeah, that did not happen. I was going to delete all of the above, but decided not to. I’ve realized if I want any chance of getting something together for a post, I have to at least start it early in the day, even if it won’t get posted until evening. I have been deleting plans that didn’t happen, but I don’t think I will going forward. It’ll give me some insight into plans vs reality.

Question of The Day:

January 10 - It's the start of the Lunar Chinese New Year - the year of the Dragon. Do you know your Chinese zodiac animal?

I do, it’s the Dragon. Which are right up there with unicorns for my favourite mythological animal. I’m so pedestrian :D

Or a day to recover depending on your preference.

Today: December 26 – Whiner's Day: National Whiner’s Day is here to encourage people to appreciate what they have instead of complaining about what they don’t! What do you have to be thankful for today?

That I could stay home and do something just for me! There are three (3!) Finished Objects (knitting) on the mannequin today. One of which dates back to 2007 or 2008.

December 17 – Wright Brothers Day: How do you feel about plane travel?

Glad it exists, but think we should consider how we use it more carefully (we in a societal sense, not a me sense as I haven’t traveled anywhere by plane in years).

December 18 – International Migrants Day: International Migrants Day emphasizes the protection of migrants’ human rights. The day also recognizes the contributions and efforts of migrants around the world. Has anyone in your family ever migrated from one country to another? What would your country be like without migrants?

Yes, both sides of my family are descended from migrants for the most part, there are only a few indigenous ancestors. My maternal grandparents were both migrants. You need to go back to the early days of the Hudson Bay to find the paternal side’s arrival in Canada. More recently, a sibling migrated to the US. And I really can’t imagine what Canada would be like without migrants. Very, very different I’m sure.

December 19 – Look for an Evergreen Day: Are there many species of evergreens where you live?

Quite a few, not all are native to the area though. Think there’s maybe 1/2 dozen native varieties (including some natural hybrids).

December 20 – Go Caroling Day: Have you ever been caroling? Are there any groups in your neighbourhood who go caroling at this time of year?

Not in the traditional door to door sense (it’s Canada, in the winter, ain’t nobody be doing that ;D). The church choir I belonged to as a kid would do Christmas performances in different venues throughout the season, so sort of? And I have never seen a group caroling in any neighbourhood I’ve lived in. In shopping malls and other places yes, but outside, nope (see above).
