Yesterday. It was very long, with a lot of really hard work. And I was right about driving home in the dark. We didn’t even leave the city before sunset, so very dark (and occasionally very slippery) the whole way home.

Going to be a very quiet day today while we recover. I’m pretty stiff and sore, so giving any studio time a pass. Hopefully I’ll be up to some tomorrow, but it might be Monday. I will get in some knitting today. I have a new test knit coming up in February and I want to start swatching to prepare for it.

Question of The Day:

January 20 - What is your favourite cheese on Cheese Lovers Day?
I have to pick one? Nope, no can do! I want a blend of Cheddar and Monterey Jack on my nachos, the good cream cheese on my bagels, stringy/melty mozzarella on pizza......! I do have a bit of a preference for a good smoked Gouda for snacking, but only slight.

Hope yours was at least tolerable.

With one thing and another I’ve been getting less studio time than I’d like the last few days. I did get the first sewing project cut out before the weekend, but realized I needed to clear off some of the mess that had accumulated over the holidays before I could actually get to my machines. Good news out of that is I have 4, yes 4 finished objects. All are older knitting projects (one was probably close to two decades old~eep!) so that feels good. Today I will finish putting stuff away and do a quick pass with the vacuum before settling down to work. Considering the weather, Thing Two will probably appreciate another pair of flannel pj’s.

So, yeah, that did not happen. I was going to delete all of the above, but decided not to. I’ve realized if I want any chance of getting something together for a post, I have to at least start it early in the day, even if it won’t get posted until evening. I have been deleting plans that didn’t happen, but I don’t think I will going forward. It’ll give me some insight into plans vs reality.

Question of The Day:

January 10 - It's the start of the Lunar Chinese New Year - the year of the Dragon. Do you know your Chinese zodiac animal?

I do, it’s the Dragon. Which are right up there with unicorns for my favourite mythological animal. I’m so pedestrian :D

Let us hope this year treats us all kindly.

Question of the Day:

New Year's Day is the first day of January in the Gregorian Calendar. Samuel Pepys began his diary on January 1st 1660 - have you ever kept a handwritten diary?

Not really.  Over the years I was given assorted "pretty" diaries, but generally only wrote in them for a few days (maybe a couple of weeks) before abandoning them.   I kept a daily planner for years, but that was different.  It was about appointments, schedules and task lists.

This year I'm setting up project/planning journals (hoping to keep track of everything - hah, good luck with that!)  However, that's still not the same as a diary.

December 6 – Put on Your Own Shoes Day: How old were you when you learned to put on your own shoes? How about when you learned to tie your own shoelaces?

I don’t remember, but it would have been pre-k. Mom was primary school teacher and had worked with me through the curriculum to the end of first grade before I ever started school. That said, I’m pretty sure most of my shoes were buckle ups. I remember my youngest sibling learning to tie their shoes, there was a cardboard shape painted/printed to look like a shoe with lacing holes and laces to practice on. No idea if this was around for me or was a later addition, there is a fairly large age gap there.

Still being indecisive about my next sewing project, but I have started with a new knitting project. Just jumped right in without really looking at the pattern and now I’m tinking back several rows :( Going to reposition the shaping so it will actually fit (or that’s the idea anyway).
