Not my favourite. There are worse options though, fire alarm springs to mind.

We’re experiencing “winter weather” today. Not wild enough to classify as a blizzard, but the snow is heavy enough at times visibility is pretty close to zero. It’s also cold, -15C / 5F when I got up and now it’s -16C / 3.2F with a predicted high of only -14C / 6.8F. We are opting to stay home.

We will have to go out tomorrow, we can’t put off grocery shopping any longer, we’re out of way too many things, including any fresh produce. It’ll still be cold, but at least the snow should have stopped.

I’m going to take advantage of a quiet day and spend sometime in the studio. I will try to get the trousers cut out today. I prepared everything yesterday, but I lost the light before finishing and trying to work with black fabric requires more light than my lamps provide.

Question of The Day:
March 2 - Dr Seuss was born today in 1904 - do you have a favourite book of his?
Probably “The Cat in The Hat”. Though “Green Eggs and Ham” as well as “How The Grinch Stole Christmas!” are tied for a close second.

December 3 – Make a Gift Day: Do make gifts for anybody? How about cards? I have made gifts in the past, not as much anymore. The family decided a few years ago to stop exchanging gifts. We all have too much stuff, too little money and it was just a source of stress. Now we focus on the meal and enjoying each other’s company. Cards are hit or miss, sometimes I do make a few, sometimes not. And sometimes I just don’t do cards at all. It all depends on how crazy things are (I know if I planned ahead I could make and send cards every year, but that’s not gonna happen).

December 4 – Wear Brown Shoes Day: Do you own any brown shoes? I have a few pairs. Not as many as I did a few years ago, when my wardrobe was all brown and turquoise (aqua/teal). And this summer I realized I was going to have to give up my last two pairs of brown high heels. The feets just don’t like them anymore.

P.S. Re: sugar shenanigans: we were able to get a couple of smaller bags of sugar at not ridiculous prices on Saturday. A check for online prices at Walmart show things are back to more reasonable pricing. Wonder if it was a glitch/mistake or there were too many complaints?

Do not recommend!  'Tis the season and everyone has lost their minds/ability to drive/walk in a straight line.  Ugh.  Going to try to avoid going out on the weekends whenever possible between now and the holidays (say this every year but never manage it).

December 2 – Play Basketball Day: Have you ever played basketball?

Only as part of Phys. Ed. back in elementary.   And only because it was required.  I am very much not a sportsball person and this one in particular I was (and still am) unsuited for.  I entered high school standing a whopping 5' 1 1/2" tall weighing in at 95 lbs and was never expected to join the team.  I did eventually get a little taller, but yeah I was never tapped for *any* team.  Eh, I wouldn't have had time, as I too busy with figure skating.

Okay, how did that happen?   Wasn't it just June?

December 1 – Cookie Cutter Day: Do you own any cookie cutters? Any unusual ones? Tell us about them.

Yes we do.  We did pare down the collection during the last move, but still have a shoe box full of them.  Not sure any of them are really unusual, I do have a set of teapot shaped ones that I used when it was my turn to host my quilting group, but that hasn't been a regular thing in years. I do collect teapots and teapot themed things, so those were kept.

In sort of related news, well relating to baking anyway, apparently there is a sugar shortage! It's world wide, but locally (aka most of Western Canada) the shortage is due (made worse?)  to a strike by workers at the largest producer/distributor of sugar products.  We apparently live under a rock and didn't know anything about this until we found empty shelves on a grocery run.

We've been trying to see if we can source from somewhere else (artificial substitutes are not an option due to allergies) but were shocked to see that Walmart (who source their sugar from a different supplier) has totally jacked their prices.  Online a 10kg bag is priced at $43.99.   Our local *expensive* grocery store currently lists the same size bag for $18.99.   The big warehouse store here says they have the 10kg bag in stock (even if there was none on the shelves when we were there) and it's listed at $14.99.   Not that we're looking to buy any of those, we're just hoping we can get a 2.5kg bag somewhere for under $5!

Ah well, we'll have a good reason to cut back on seasonal baking and I have been meaning to limit the sugar I add to my coffee.
