Again. I was inspired to write something today and when I opened my file I discovered a post for April 12th (!) that I never posted. Since I made the effort, I figure I’ll just post that one along with what ever I babble about today.

Question of The Day:

May 8 - It's World Red Cross Day - have you ever learned how to resusitate someone?
Many, many, many years ago. I wouldn’t trust myself to remember how now.

I don’t know if I’ll catch up on all the Questions I’ve missed, I might add some randomly as the spirit moves me, but I think I’ll at least get caught up on May’s questions, a few at a time.

May 1 - In various countries there is a holiday today (Labor Day in the US, Early May Bank Holiday in the UK). It is also May Day, an ancient pagan festival of spring, rebirth and fertility in many European countries. What are your plans today?
Not a holiday or special day here. We didn’t do anything interesting, it was not a great day to go out as it snowed on and off pretty much the whole day.

May 2 - Today is a day to celebrate tuna fish. Do you eat fresh or canned/tinned tuna. If it's in a can, do you buy it in oil, brine or water.
None of the above. Tuna is a no go for me.

May 3 - James Brown was born today in 1933. Known as the Godfather of Soul - can you name one of his songs?
Of course. “I Feel Good” or the full title “I Got You (I Feel Good)”. I recognize others, but I’m terrible at remembering actual titles.

What I should have posted Friday April 12th-

Question of The Day:

April 12 - Created in 1996 - The Day of Silence was created to support LGBTQ youth who were consistently silenced and ignored by parents and administrators. Yearly, millions participate by staying silent for the duration of their day - communicating only with the written word, representing the silencing of LGBTQ students. Have you ever participated in this?
No I have not. Honestly, I only become aware of The Day of Silence in the last few years.

Should probably preface this one with a note that the ex was(is?) an amateur astronomer and I got dragged out to look at the sky a lot (usually in the winter – burrrrr!)

1. Have you seen a solar eclipse? Total, Partial, Annular? When and where?

Annular, May 30, 1984. Campus of University of Saskatchewan. I missed seeing Total eclipse of February, 1979 as my Mom freaked out about possible eye damage and sequestered us in the house with all the curtains drawn.

2. Have you seen a lunar eclipse? Full? Partial? When and where?

Several, no longer remember specifics though.

3. Have you seen a comet? Which one? When and where?

Halley’s – 1986 on some random back road as far away from the city (Montreal) as we could get with a baby in tow. And Hale-Bopp – 1997 again on some random back road as far away from the city (Calgary) as we could get with two kids up past their bedtime along for the ride.

4. Have you seen a nova or supernova? When and where?

Only in pictures.

5. Have you seen a meteor shower? Which one, when and where?

Again several different ones and more than once. Different places, different times. My favourite was always the Perseids (because summer!).

P.S. Weather was somewhat better today, high of 13C / 55.4 F and no rain (or snow!).

Not my favourite wake up call. At least it means I don’t have to drag myself out to shovel!

Late lunch for me today as there was someone in the kitchen all morning. I’m not mad about it though, as the result was an apple strudel for dessert. Yummy!

I’m planning several hours in the studio this afternoon. I’ve lined up 2 new sewing projects. One is already partially cut out (the lining) so I think I’ll put that together today. Then if I have time I'll set up to cut out the rest of it, as well as all of the second project tomorrow.

1. At what age did you discover you had a favorite color?
Hmm, about 4 or 5, I think.

2. What type (genre) of film do you prefer to see in a theater versus one you'd watch at home?
I rarely watch films in a theater. I guess I’d prefer to see the big spectacle films with lots of special effects on the big screen, but I don’t mind watching them at home either. Stuff that’s likely to make me cry~that I wanna watch at home!

3. What's your oldest object or item since childhood?
A stuffed black poodle toy, ‘twas a first birthday gift from an Aunt and Uncle.

4. In what book would you insert yourself as a side character or friend to the protagonist?
All of them? Oh, okay, I wanted to be friends with Anne of Green Gables.

5. What's your favorite shape or type of cloud?
The Chinook Arch. Means warmer weather soon (just have to live through the wind first).

Question of The Day:
February 9 - National Pizza Day. Have you ever made one from scratch - what are your favourite toppings?

Yes I have, though these days it’s usually Thing Two doing the cooking. My all time favourite pizza is Hawaiian – ham and pineapple. As an aside, Hawaiian pizza is actually a Canadian invention.

My second favourite is Vegie. This one is variable, depending on what we have in terms of suitable vegetables. There’s always thin onion slices and big slices of fresh tomato, then some combination of spinach, mushrooms, red/yellow bell peppers (never green-ick!) or black olive slices. We’ve also used fresh basil and feta once or twice.

Except, honestly, there really isn't much a difference between weekdays and weekends for me.

So, the Friday Five is obviously aimed at those who celebrated Thanksgiving yesterday.  Considering I'm a Canadian, I didn't.  I am going to answer anyway.

The Friday Five for 24 November 2023

1. What did you eat on Thursday? Lunch was soup/salad/sandwich.  Supper was Mushroom, Garlic and Something Pasta.   Something because the original recipe calls for shrimp, but I use what we have and last night there was leftover sausage to use up.

2. How many miles (kilometers) did you drive on Thursday? 0  Didn't even leave the house.

3. How many relatives did you see on Thursday? I was going to say 0 but as my youngest lives here (and so do the cats) that would be rude!  So one or three if you count the cats.

4. What did you wear on Thursday? Nothing special, but might need a bit of backstory.  Winter is here, I run cold and my studio space runs colder (and my space heater quit earlier this week), hence the need to bundle up even inside.  Toe up - 2 pairs socks one cotton, one hand-knit wool, slippers; leggings as long underwear with athleisure pants over; cotton cami top, long sleeve knit pullover, hip length sweater (no closures so I used a shawl pin to hold it closed) and a mid-thigh hand-knit cardigan.  When I got really cold, I wrapped a blanket around my waist and wore it like a skirt.

5. Are you planning to buy anything in particular on Friday? Nope, nyet, nada!   We do need new computer speakers (as of yesterday)  and probably should replace the space heater, but there is no way I'm dealing with the madness of Black Friday.  Hopefully there will still be a few specials/sales next week.

As an aside, Black Friday sales and the attending madness was not always a thing here.  I honestly can't remember when that started.  Traditionally the big sale day was Boxing Day (December 26th).  We still do have Boxing Day (or week) sales, though I'm not sure which actually has the better deals. I seriously avoid going shopping during either period.
