December 5 – National Repeal Day: December 5th marks the end of prohibition in the United States (back in 1933). If you're not American, did your country ever prohibit the sale of alcohol (or maybe it still does)? Does it make sense that alcohol is legal, but other substances aren't?

Canada did give prohibition a go, but for most of the country it was relatively short lived (mostly during WW1) and only moderately successful. That said, there are still places that are “dry” even today, as sales and licensing is handled at a local level. And no it really doesn’t. I’d say tobacco would be a more reasonable target.

Alberta Weather continues to be weird, a Chinook gave us +16 C today. And it gave me a headache. The roof hasn’t been repaired since the last big storm (mid November) and there’s a loose shingle right over my room that makes quite the racket in the wind. Not the best way to wake up at stupid o’clock.
