Lazy Sunday

Or maybe not so much. I made cinnamon rolls to have with Sunday Brunch and it all took so long*. I used this recipe for quick biscuit mix ones. Not my typical, I much prefer a yeast based sweet bread dough version, but I was looking for something to use up the biscuit mix we received in our last package from Food Rescue. It’s a bit passed the Best Before Date, so it needs to be used sooner rather than later. They were okay, but eh, don’t think I’ll bother again. Perhaps I’ll see about doing an Impossible Pie variation, maybe a savoury one.

I was planning to get into the studio today, but I’m not feeling it. It’s almost 2:30 pm and I just finished cleaning up after brunch. I did get a late start on that, Thing Two and I need to coordinate the kitchen usage better. Just as I was about to go downstairs to start on the cinnamon rolls, Thing Two got in the kitchen to make candied citrus peel! That set my time table back about an hour and a half. That said, the house smells amazing. Citrus and cinnamon, yum!

Think I’ll focus on my test knit today. A number of the other test knitters are already finished, so I feel I should hurry up. Technically the test is set to end mid-March time, but sooner is always better. I have one sleeve and the button bands left to do. I could do that in a day, maybe a day and a half, but I’m finding these really big needles (10mm) more than a bit hard on my hands. I learned my lesson last month and am taking things more slowly, so as to not destroy my hands again. Waiting over a week for them to heal the last time was frustrating.

Question of The Day:
February 18 - National Battery Day. In England, we are not permitted to dispose of spent batteries in the general waste collection. Do you have the facility to dispose of your spent batteries safely where you live?

We do. The town recycling centre provides bins for used electronics and spent batteries along with the more typical paper/cardboard/tins/plastics. There’s even options for larger scale yard/garden waste (tree branches and such). Oddly enough, one of the things that is not permitted is coloured glass. We’re okay though, as we just take that in to the city with us.

*Everything takes so much longer when you have to wash everything down twice before you can work because the cats got up on the counter again. Good thing they’re cute!
